Summer Time Arts Course

Kostya and Nadya Molugov are two staff members who have had an exciting but busy summer. They were in St. Petersburg where they prepared and ran an arts course for artists. The course ran from July 1st to September 12th. Teachers in the course were both YWAM staff and Professors from Art Academy’s in St. Petersburg.

They had 10 students from different countries, Italy, South Africa, Ukraine, England, Kazakhstan and Russia. All students are practicing artists and there were both Christians and Non Christians.

Subjects taught ranged from Oil painting to Photography and Design. Everything taught was mixed with Christian values and foundations. They taught about worshipping God through art, about who they were as artists and how to express themselves and how to work in teams.

Comments by students were all very positive. They found it a good balance between professional teaching and faith. Many expressed interest in attending the next course.
They also had the privilege of seeing 2 students begin a relationship with God and for the others they are sure that many seeds were planted!

One of the things that I think is most exciting is that they will be continuing with these courses in the coming year(s). February 2009, in Florence Italy they will be running at least a month long course in the evenings. The focus for these classes will be on portrait painting. These courses will be aimed more for beginners to the area and will start with some basics and progressively get harder. This course is a perfect introduction for anyone who would be interested in taking part in the summer Art course also happening in Florence Italy this year. The summer course in 2009 will have a focus on portraits.

I love how God is using people to influence all spheres of society in new and exciting ways. This sphere that they are involved in I am all thumbs up… I know nothing about it but our God sure does!!!
All I can say is GO GOD GO!!

Until next time!!!
